OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE

FEATURE SPONSOR

RETURN TO WESTERMOST ROUGH OFFSHORE WINDFARM

Cost reduction is a cornerstone of future strategy in managing and optimising the key assets in the offshore wind industry – the wind turbines. Maintenance of the turbines whether planned or reactive is important and necessary for them to run effectively. Downtime of turbines results in loss of generation capacity and ultimately in revenue.

OPTIMUM OUTPUT REQUIREMENT Additionally if the assets are not running efficiently they will not be generating at optimum output or cost per unit.

Imagine the scenario in the airline industry if planes were indiscriminately withdrawn from service for unplanned ad hoc maintenance? Maximum utilisation of the asset is the key aim, so when the asset is offline it is vital to carry out as much maintenance as possible during the downtime.

This is a difficult logistical scenario for land based assets but becomes exponentially more difficult to mobilise all the appropriate

resources when the asset is offshore. In addition it is important to review the process of how this is carried out to implement improvements to the efficiency of the service offered and hence to significantly reduce the associated costs.

ALLIANCE

Safety Technology Ltd, WTG Offshore and Offshore Turbine Services have come together to establish a strategic alliance to provide a unique solution to key aspects of offshore turbine inspection, maintenance and repair whilst achieving substantial cost savings.
