Worshipful Company of Farriers and Farriers Registration Council presentation of Associateship, Diploma and Registration Certificates
the ceremonies at which new farriers are presented with their diploma certificates are always family celebrations, giving proud parents and partners the opportunity to witness the graduation of new farriers.
The ceremony that took place on June 25 was even more family-oriented than usual, with eight ATF fathers and one ATF sister seeing their sons and brother receive their certificates and make their declarations. And two brothers – Jesse and Jake gregory from the uSA – were also presented with Associateship certificates.
The Master of the Worshipful Company of Farriers, Wayne upton AFCl, and richard Bridges, the Chairman of the Farriers registration Council, presided over the presentation ceremony at The honourable Artillery Company, london.
The Master told the new farriers that they should be proud of themselves, while reminding them of their responsibilities to maintain standards and their duty of care to the horse.
he presented the Company’s Associateship to 17 recipients and the Diploma to 52 candidates, two of whom had achieved Distinctions. The David llewellyn prize for the best written paper went to Ms Jessica uphill DipWCF and the Mike Seckington prize for the best practical shoeing went to Mr harry harris DipWCF.
The examinations for the Company’s Diploma took place in March and May at Warwickshire College and Myerscough College. Two of the
recipients had qualified for the Diploma by passing the Army Intermediate Military Farrier Certificate, and two through having held the American Farrier Association’s Certified Journeyman Farrier qualification for over two years. The Chairman of the Farriers registration Council also addressed the assembly, and Christopher linssner, president of the British Farriers and Blacksmiths Association addressed the assembly and awarded prizes and certificates for the best portfolio and best forging skills.
representatives from the Court of the Worshipful Company of Farriers, the Farriers registration Council, the Colleges, and the Company’s examinations Board were also present.
A Church Service, led by reverend Canon Dr Flora Winfield, was held in Wesley’s Chapel immediately prior to the presentation Ceremony. The recipients were supported by their Approved Training Farriers, together with their families and friends.
