PINGSHAN PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE, SHENZHEN, CHINA Architect: OPEN Architecture Builder: Currently in bidding process Opens: 2016 The theatre will be a combination of a “formal function” grand theatre with “informal functions” such as educational and social activities related to the performing arts, as well as a restaurant and cafe (see above). Flanked by a curving road that separates the site from a large park on the east and south sides of the building, this “drama box” naturally creates two plazas, both with an open view over the park. At its core is a 1,200-seat opera house.


URL HARBORSIDE PLAZA, NEW JERSEY, USA Architect: Concrete Builder: Ironstate and Mack-Cali Opens: Mid-2016 Three 69-storey towers are situated near the Hudson River front, looking towards the Manhattan skyline. URL (Urban Ready Living) is a new housing concept developed by Ironstate and innovative Dutch firm, Concrete, which aims to provide affordable, compact-yet-spacious, semi-furnished apartments for the rental market. Ultimately, the three towers will boast a total of 2,358 apartments and will have an entrance café, retail area, gym facilities, 700 parking spaces, communal kitchen, swimming pool and basketball court.


TGV STATION, MONTPELLIER, FRANCE Architect: Marc Mimram (Paris) Builder: Fondeville Opens: 2017 The station will be located on the new high- speed line between Nîmes and Montpellier. Once constructed it will connect with the existing Perpignan to Barcelona line to reduce journey times between Paris and the Catalan capital. The station, positioned in the “Odysséum” district of Montpellier, between the city centre and the airport, is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2017. It aims to serve 3.5 million passengers a year by 2030.


NEW KEELUNG HARBOR, NEW KEELUNG, TAIWAN Architect: Neil M Denari Architects Builder: Far Eastern General Contractor Inc. Opens: 2017 The Port of Keelung is Taiwan’s largest port of entry. The northern end of the terminal supports a cantilevered scenic restaurant, which will become a bridge to the second phase office complex. Across the main drop-off road is a 53,000 sq m, 70-metre tall structure, which will house the Harbor Authority, police station, a weather station and support offices.
