rowing Your Business was the overriding theme and message at the 16th biannual HOFEX Expo 2015, held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre between 6 and 9 May 2015. The four-day event attracted more than 38,000 visitors and 2,400 exhibitors from around the globe, representing 57 countries and regions. Suppliers, manufacturers and end-users had the opportunity to interact in a professional and vibrant atmosphere and experience innovative products and solutions across a range of hospitality sectors. International visitors represented 27% of the attendance and HOFEX organisers Hong Kong Exhibition Services Allworld said that 80% of all attendees were in management positions and 82% were responsible for buying and/or specifying products and equipment.

In keeping with the theme there

were many “firsts” incorporated into the programme such as Meat

@ HOFEX, the first Prime Meat Tradeshow in Asia and – true to the name – the opening ceremony was celebrated not by the cutting of a ribbon but by cutting a glossy roast suckling pig! FCSI APD was proud to partner with HOFEX to launch the inaugural Asian Catering Equipment (ACE) Award. The ACE Award aims to recognise manufacturers and designers of foodservice equipment who have improved operational efficiency and had a positive impact on both the profitability of the business and sustainability. APD’s role was to define the award categories and judging criteria, determine a scoring system, participate in the scoring and review the scoring results by the judging panel which comprised of both FCSI professional consultant members and hospitality professionals and present the ACE Awards at a networking Cocktail Reception on the show floor, next to the APD stand.
