It has been a very exciting time for LIT, with major announcements of benefactor funding. The JP McManus Benevolent Fund is donating €4 million towards one of the flagship projects in the LIT Campus Masterplan to 2030, the Community Engagement Gateway building. This will benefit communities on the Northside of Limerick as it will house a range of initiatives we are already engaged in through GIVE,

Go4IT, the Double Club, Business in the Community and many more. It will finally provide a dedicated home for all this work which brings together LIT staff and students and the wider community. As it will be located towards the rear of the Moylish campus site, it will create an educational corridor linking LIT, St Nessans and Corpus Christi National School and in doing so it will meet several of the objectives of the Regeneration Framework Implementation Plan (educational, social and infrastructure objectives). This is exactly what appealed to the JP McManus Benevolent Fund Committee chaired by JP’s daughter Sue Ann, who stated: “The Gateway project will position LIT as a link… allowing the northside of the city to integrate. We are delighted to be able to contribute to such a life- changing and extraordinary scheme by LIT which will create such a positive legacy for future generations.”
