gentle climb up to the summit.

It was a nice clear morning and we were able to enjoy the panoramic view of the Southern Highlands to the north, the Forth Bridges to the east, Tinto Hill to the south and Glasgow and beyond to the west.

JUNE In June we walked up the Meikle Bin (570 metres) the highest hill in the Kilsyth Hills

Once again we met at the church carpark and then travelled up to the carpark at the far end of the Carron Reservoir.

The walk follows a forest track, gradually gaining height, for about an hour’s walk.

After a brief stop at the top of the forest track (brief because of the midges) we made our way onto the steep hill and, eventually, reached the summit.

We had a mixture of weather on this walk, rain at the beginning then some sunshine, some cloud and the normal windy conditions at the top of a hill.

Our next walk is on Saturday 25 July around Broadwood Loch in Cumbernauld.
