West Howe now 8 West Howe Community Enterprises

Wheely Inspired Community Cycle Project We're really excited to now have the community bike project running in West Howe. You may have seen us entering Cunningham crescent in style on 13th May bring back 10 new bicycles and a Cargo Trike, thank you to Tesco Kinson for providing refreshments during the ride. The scheme has been so successful that 9 of the 10 bikes have already been loaned out to local residents who can hire the bikes, free of charge for a period of up to 1 year. The idea behind the scheme is to provide a source of affordable transport and exercise to people in the area who may not have the means to access a bicycle.

The scheme was funded by Bournemouth Council's Green Goals in partnership with local businesses. There is one ladies style bicycle remaining for hire as well as a range of child trailers, helmets and a child seat. If you, or anyone you know may be interested please call 01202 570077

Health Helpers Joe Elston has been appointed to work on a new health project in West Howe. The programme is to improve health inequalities in the area. Currently men in West Howe live on average 10 years less than men in other, more wealthy areas, and women live between 4 and 5 years less. The aim of the project is to support local people in making healthier choices to improve their health – so for example, reducing alcohol, improving diet, exercising more….Joe’s aim is to recruit and train local volunteers who can have conversations with friends, family and

colleagues, and support them in making some changes to their lifestyle. These changes might be quite small or larger, and hopefully will start to improve their health. Volunteers will receive training and can achieve a Level 2 Award and other training which may be helpful in applying for jobs. call Joe at the Inspiring Change shop on 01202 570077 or email
