Old fashioned sweets at a click

An award-winning Devon sweet shop that has embraced the nation’s love of sugary treats has launched an online emporium and nationwide delivery service in response to customer demand. The family business - Daffy-down-dilly - opened in Sidmouth

last year offering everything from retro sweets to futuristic fancies to American candy and classic British bon bons as well as bespoke gifts of sweet jars, hampers, candy cakes and party sweet bags. All customers have to do is click on the sweet genre of their

choice from boiled, retro, fizzy, jelly, liquorice, sour, gobstoppers, mints, chocolate and more. Options even include sugar free, gluten free and vegetarian sweets. And since launching in mid-2014 Daffy-down-dilly has won a

place in the hearts of Devon locals with everyone from kids spending their pocket money to adults wanting to indulge their sweet tooth or buy a special gift. Staff say they specialise in good old fashioned customer service

and this year the business was awarded the Chamber of Commerce Sid Valley Business Award for the best New Enterprise of 2015. By launching the website the business is able to offer more than

300 types of confectionery at any time of the day or night. Orders are dispatched within 48 hours.

In the wake of its local success the business is now welcoming

interest in running franchise stores. As well as a love for all things sweet, those interested should have a passion for good service and a commitment to creating a bright, modern and friendly environment. Franchise director,

Gordon Blood said: “We’ve received an overwhelmingly positive response from the local Devon community and can’t thank our fellow sweet lovers enough for their ongoing support. “Now, we’ve got

‘customers love old fashioned service’

exciting prospects on the horizon and are looking at going national with a franchising scheme. We’re currently welcoming interest from anyone who feels they can mirror our company ethos in their own area.”
