The Green Man Saturday 19th July 2014 Shelterbox at Pilton Green Man.

This year we displayed one of the new ShelterBox Midi Tents for the first time. This tent was developed for up to 6 per- sons specially for use in areas susceptible to flooding as it can be moved quickly and re- sited. Thanks to Roger and Gordon for their all help in transportation and erection of the tent and display and Colin, Bob, Arnold, David & Suzanne who helped man the stall during the day. We had a lot of interest shown throughout the day and several requests for presentations etc in the future.

The object of the Shelterbox display was mainly to raise awareness of the charity and its work throughout the world so it was a great surprise when we counted the contents of the buckets to find we had raised £ 118, a great result.

Towards 5 o'clock we noticed the clouds building up and decided to pack up before the heavens opened so Roger, David, Gordon & I packed up and just about managed to get everything loaded in record time before the deluge thanks to the fact that we had the new tent which was easily dismantled ! As a result of his judicious parking Roger was able to load up and make his escape from the Rotary Garden with a speed of which Houdini would have been proud.
