I am a jewellery designer and maker based in Falmouth, Cornwall.

My chosen materials are ceramic beads sourced in Kenya, together with beach-worn Cornish slate, making an interesting an unusual combination of colours, shapes and textures.

Each piece is unique, as I do not repeat pieces by using specific bead “recipes”. I respond, instead to the raw ingredients on the table in front of me, combining colour, form and texture as the mood takes me.

The individuality of each piece is a popular selling point for my customers – none of them will ever see another woman wearing “their” necklace, earrings or bracelet.

The ceramic beads that I use are Fair Trade, hand made by local women in Nairobi, many of whom are single mothers. Each piece is hand shaped and hand painted using clay that is found at the base of the mountains in the region."
