Owned and operated by scientist, edu- cator and TV personality Dr. Brady Barr of National Geographic fame, Eco Adventures opened just outside of Annapolis in December 2013. Its core mission is education, enrichment and conservation. Visitors to the 4,000- square-foot facility in Millersville can experience the tropical sights and sounds of a two-story simulated rainfor- est, explore an underwater discovery room and visits with animals. Just out- side Eco Adventure’s back door lies the neighboring Severn Run Wildlife Area with 1,700 acres of pristine wilderness that is ready to be explored.


Food Tour Corporation (FTC) has intro- duced three new culinary events for groups in Annapolis, including: the Culinary Cooking Challenge (a competi- tive team building event where groups work together to cook the "best" meal as determined by a panel of judges; Victuals (a culinary exploration where the FTC will bring an area's food, drink and culture directly to a venue for an interac- tive culinary experience); and a Crab

An $18-million renovation project to modernize and improve the performing arts wing at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts started in the summer of 2014. The entire multi-phase facility modernization includes renovation of the main theatre, construction of two theatre wings, the creation of a new 150-seat community theatre, and the addition of several flexible gathering spaces.


The old Calypso Bay Boatyard Bar and Grill at Herrington Harbour North will be re-opening with a new name and a new look in 2015. Named 5 Waterside in Tracys Landing, it will feature farm-to- table cuisine with a focus on the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay. It also will include a waterfront tiki bar.


The first Maryland location for Maggiano’s Little Italy opened in at Westfield Annapolis Mall in late 2013. The restaurant’s Italian menu includes pastas, salads, steaks and seafood.


Destination Paradise has introduced “Do-Gooding” team building events. In keeping with the theme, “Goodness is as Goodness does,” the company cus- tom creates customized team building events that benefit the charity of the par- ticipating organization’s choice.


Since opening Arturo’s Trattoria in September 2014, chef/owner Arturo Ottaviano has been bringing to Northern Anne Arundel County the same delec- table Italian coastal cuisine that estab- lished his flagship restaurant, Osteria 177, on Main Street in Annapolis. The new restaurant specializes in quality, fresh-daily seafood, prime cuts of meat, homemade pasta and local produce. Its cozy, yet elegant atmosphere makes Arturo’s Trattoria ideal for special occa- sions, functions and private events.


The Iron Rooster opened at 12 Market Space (the site of the former Maria’s Restaurant) in Annapolis in October 2014. It serves Southern comfort food for breakfast, lunch and “supper” in a country kitchen atmosphere, with break-
