OUT and ABOUT

Get the kids out and about in the fresh air this spring

The Boxmoor Trust

You and the kids can take a ‘Rucksack Walk’ round the 480 acres of the Box Moor Trust on London Road in Hemel Hempstead. There are two themed rucksack walks: choose from Senses Walk or Natural Art Trail. You borrow the rucksack from the visitor centre for a small deposit, and each rucksack contains four sets of activities to do, with instructions and the items needed to complete each activity. There’s a map with a suggested route and locations to do each activity. www.boxmoortrust.org.uk 01442 253300

Butterfly World

Explore and learn more about butterflies and bees and life in the tropical rainforest at Butterfly World just outside St Albans. It reopens for the spring on 23 March. www. butterflyworldproject.com 01727 869203

Gadebridge Park

As well as the playground, there’s lots to entertain the kids in this park off the Leighton Buzzard Road. There are also two bowling greens, a crazy golf course, petanque, croquet, giant chess and draughts, the King George V play area and a skate park. There are two large car parks and public toilets, as well as ice cream, hot and cold drinks and snacks to buy.
