FEATURE ❘ NORTH WEST HIGHLANDS

Highlands

comfortable rooms, a large lounge, dining room, shower facilities, and kitchen. Catering for cyclists, there is a covered area for bikes, laundry, drying rooms for wet days, workshops with tools and lots of outdoor space for tinkering or just relaxing the tired limbs. All logistics and guidance will be provided by an experienced outdoor instructor and keen cyclist, Andy Hardie. He has spent many years in the North-west Highlands and understands the landscape intricately. Andy comments, “I am really excited about doing this cycle tour. It takes in all the best bits of the Highlands – and there are a lot to choose from – but is also just great riding. It’s a challenge but entirely worth the effort, especially when reaching the top of the Bealach looking down on all the islands and the turquoise sea below. There is nothing like it.”

He continues, “The most difficult thing about undertaking a challenge like this under your own steam is the logistics. Getting all your kit, tools, spares, food and other essentials from one place to the next

is not easy when you are travelling by bike. This challenge removes all the hassle and just leaves you with the fun bit – riding your bike, taking in the views, and arriving to good food and a comfy bed.” The Grand West Coast Tour cycle challenge takes place 5-13 June 2015, starting at Oban. Prices are £750 per person including all accommodation, catering and transport.

There are options to join sections of the tour, should the whole nine days be too extensive. For further information, a detailed itinerary, and to book, visit http:// www.venturemor.co.uk/road-cycling or call 0845 340 2059.
