These acts of creation that God performed were done each day and God states that each “evening” or night, and each “morning”, or day, consisted of one day, or 24-hour period.

 Genesis 1:8 “And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and

the morning were the second day.” And so, the Sabbath, according to what we read in the Bible, starts Friday evening at sundown and lasts the 24-hour period to Saturday at sundown.

 I don’t think you have any question about the Sabbath being on Saturday

instead of Sunday, but just in case, most everyone knows that Jesus died on “Good Friday”, rested in the tomb on the Sabbath and rose from the grave Sunday morning.

Nobody ever seems to question that “Good Friday” is the day Jesus was crucified, nor do they question that “Easter Sunday” was the day Jesus rose from the dead, but, for some reason, people don’t seem to know what day is

the Sabbath day, even though the Bible is very plain about it. Mark 15:37 “And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.” 

for the body of Jesus to bury Him. And this was done on Friday, or the day before the Sabbath day. 

According to Mark, Jesus died and then Joseph of Arimathaea asked Pilate

Mark 15:42-43 “And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, 43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.”

Jesus was laid in Joseph’s tomb and rested on the Sabbath day. 

Even in death, Jesus kept His Sabbath day and rested upon it. 2

Jesus kept the Sabbath just as He had made it from the beginning. 
