Community Matters


The Probus Club of Shepperton for retired business and professional men meets on the first Tuesday of each month at The Anchor Hotel, Church Square, Shepperton. We have a speaker followed by lunch. In December we had our Christmas Ladies Lunch and a talk entitled "Blessed are the Cheesemakers" with amusing anecdotes from the retail indus- try. Spelthorne Schools Prayer Group Do you have a heart for the children in our area and a desire to pray for them? Then this is for you! We are a group of mums and grandmas who love to pray for the schools in this area, the children, teachers and staff. We meet fortnightly during term time on Friday mornings between 10 and 12 – do come and join us! Laleham Darby and Joan Club meets each Friday in the Laleham Village Hall from 2- 4. This is open to all slightly older people and we do have lots of fun chatting, having afternoon tea, playing bingo and having the occasional musical afternoon. Please join the Laleham Residents Association Some of the things we do: We keep you informed about local events and issues by email. We organise ad hoc fund raising and community building events. Garden Open Day / Village Fair / Autumn Quiz Party / Christmas Party. We sponsor the Laleham PANTO- MIME. We foster and maintain links with council groups, local police etc. We preserve and plant the War Memorial and historic graves. We organise and pay for the hanging baskets throughout the summer. We organise initiatives to keep the village clean and tidy. We sup- port local charities.
