Dinner & Dancing at Meson Toby As a pre Christmas season treat, Mr C and I found ourselves once more at Meson Toby in Ashford Road, Laleham. This time there was more of a draw than just the legendary dessert trolley! The restaurant was putting on its first evening of entertainment. The six course dinner, from canapés (pictured) to coffee, was accom- panied by Clem Johnson who was performing his “Tribute to the Stars” set. As we were finishing off our main courses, Clem kicked off with Sinatra. I was instantly singing along. The music is dear to me, reminding me of a holiday in the south of France with my now husband who was trying to impress me with Sinatra songs (not bad in fact!). He moved on to some Michael Buble and then Neil Diamond. Clem has a talent for imitating the dif-

ferent tones of these singers. Also for putting his audience at ease and giving them a good nights enter- tainment. The menu offered us 3 good choices of starter and main, from prawn/ avocado, smoked duck breast and asparagus to start, to chicken breast on black pudding and bacon bubble and squeak, medallions of monk- fish with prawns, mushrooms and sherry sauce and fillet of venison wellington. The warmth of the welcome at Meson Toby along with the meal and entertainment makes for a great night out, with the add- ed advantage of only being a few miles from home. Meson Toby plans of several of these music evenings in the future so watch out for dates and be sure to book. Tel 01784 457533.
