Lombard to kick-off holiday celebrations with ninth-annual Jinglebell Jubilee


Several community organizations will usher in the holiday season on Saturday, Dec. 6 with the annual Jinglebell Jubilee celebration. The event, in its ninth year, will feature a myriad of holiday-themed events from 5 to 9:30 p.m. To kick-off the Jubilee, students from The Dance Centre will be performing live scenes from “The Nutcracker” in downtown business window displays 5 to 7 p.m. The event, hosted by Lombard Town Centre, will be accompanied by a pop-up art gallery in the LTC offi ce from 1 to 9:30 p.m. After visiting the downtown, event attendees can cross the tracks to view the Lombard Park District’s beautiful and historic Lilacia Park. The lighting of Lilacia Park will take place at about 6 p.m. and participants will also be able to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, hot cocoa and s’mores until 8 p.m. Village President Keith Giagnorio will kick-off the event with an introduction at 6 p.m. followed by a speech from Lombard Park District President Greg Ludwig. Immediately following, there will be a countdown to turn on the park’s lights.


The Helen M. Plum Memorial Library will host “Christmas at the Library” featuring the Glenbard East Madrigal Singers from 6 to 8 p.m. The evening will consist of three concerts at 6:10 p.m., 6:50 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. New Library Director Barb Kruser will be on hand to meet and greet guests. Cookies and cider will be served. The Lombard Historical Society’s


Victorian Cottage Museum will host a “Candlelight Christmas Tour” from 6 to 8 p.m. in which participants will glimpse back in time to see a Christmas Eve during the Victorian times. Calling cards for the 15-minute tours will be available at the Carriage House. Roasted candied nuts will also be available for a small donation in front of the Victorian Cottage.


Participants can close out the night with holiday spirit at the Maple Street Chapel’s free sing-along from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Jinglebell Jubilee is sponsored by the Lombard Park District, Lombard Historical Society, Helen M. Plum Memorial Library, Maple Street Chapel, Lombard Town Centre and the Village of Lombard.
