This winter, Wales Millennium Centre will be buzzing with activity from festive family shows to a magical


winter wonderland exhibition. From November 29th, the Centre will be transformed into a beautiful winter landscape through spectacular large-scale installations created by paper artist Andy Singleton. Inspired by ice formations, this stunning visual display will provide the perfect wintery backdrop for the Centre’s busy programme of events.


Father Christmas will be making plenty of appearances around the Centre this Christmas. Meet him in his Grotto every weekend from 29 November and on 22 and 23 December, or join him for afternoon tea in ffresh restaurant.

Christmas Celebrations


Welsh tenor Wynne Evans brings the festive spirit to Cardiff this December, as BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales present Christmas Celebrations at St David’s Hall on Thursday 18 December, 7.30pm. In this concert, Wynne presents a seasonal selection of music that the whole family will love. There’s an exciting journey through snowy lands with Troika; Leroy Anderson’s festive Sleigh Ride; and Do You Want to Build a Snowman, from the film Frozen. There’s even an opportunity to sing along in a medley of festive favourites! Caerphilly Borough will be hosting a programme of magnificent Christmas events for visitors this year. Kicking off the festive season is the Risca Christmas Market & Lantern Parade on 6th December and Blackwood Christmas Market on 6th & 7th December. Both Christmas markets will be bursting with festive stalls, funfair rides and traditional entertainment.

Little Chefs Arabian Nights


An enchanting and magical treat for the whole family this Christmas is Arabian Nights at the Sherman Theatre 5 December – 3 January. This exciting adaptation by Dominic Cooke is a must see for children aged 7+ and their families. Arabian Nights will see actor-musicians take on multiple roles in this storytelling feast. Set far far away a young girl, Shahrazad embarks on a quest to transform the vengeful King with her gift of storytelling.


Little Chefs have lots of new classes in Penarth, Cowbridge, Pontyclun, Lisvane, Llantrisant, Church Village, Caerphilly and Pentyrch. Everyone aged 2 – 12 is welcome to a free first class so come along and try it out! Classes are designed with little ones in mind so they are informal, friendly and very good fun. Included are all ingredients, equipment, an activity to keep little ones busy during cooking time and a collectable recipe card to take away.


There are Christmas Workshops over the festive period which include cooking up a festive treat, games and activities with lunch provided.
