Heathland classroom At the heart of the park - an outdoor learning space

The Lesnes Abbey Woods Enhancement Project is a project linking various strategies. One of which is to establish a number of outdoor classrooms. Not classrooms, as you would fi nd in traditional settings such as in schools - but inventive, creative spaces for exploration and learning about the human and natural history of the park.

The heathland classroom is an informal area for groups to visit, sit and learn about the natural history of this rare urban heathland and the wildlife that depends on it.
