More recently, I have moved on to impressionism, and a freer expression, discarding the brushes almost completely in favour of all sorts of applicators like kitchen scouring pads, folded paper towels, and my own fingers, for building the base background and composition, often mixing the paint directly on the canvas itself. I have to say that this is a very enjoyable and uplifting way to paint.

The Fighting Temeraire - Acrylic on stretched canvas 1000mm x 1000mm- After Turner.

Ship in a snow storm - Acrylic on stretched canvas 500mm x 400mm- After Turner.

Ship docked in a storm- Acrylic on Stretched canvas 500mm x 400mm- all my own work.

Mountain valleys - Acrylic abstract on stretched canvas 500mm x 500mm (SOLD).

I am continuing to develop my own personal style and compositions, and hope that eventually I may be able to sell one or two, but for the time being the most valuable reward for me is the filling in of that bit of spare time in a creative way. I thoroughly recommend it to all.

Sheepwash with Dartmoor rising - Acrylic on stretched canvas 900mm x 300mm (from the Sheepwash photo on the Chronicle website). Just finished this one.
