Holsworthy Link Centre

The Link Centre is a drop-in centre for people with and recovering from a wide range of mental health problems. You can refer yourself, or your GP, Social Worker, Community Psychiatric Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychiatrist or other worker can refer you to us.

The centre is open two days a week. It has workshops that people can join if they wish, and there are also a variety of crafts available. Here you can sit and talk or listen to other clients, read some of the reading material including newspapers, or have a game of pool, and there is even a games station called a Wii. On one of the two days that it is open there is a cooked meal if people wish to participate. There is also a garden where one can sit and enjoy the fine weather! You can even try your hand at gardening.

One of the recent groups started is a music group, run by one of the clients who is a musician and a fantastic teacher. Their first performance was on 29thMarch 2014 at Penstowe Manor, Kilkhampton at an event called Kink in the Link which was to celebrate all things different and embrace Mental Health. The performance was well received by all.

Although there are trained support workers to chat to privately, we also help each other as well where possible. We do not just sit around in silence, we enjoy chatting, joking and general camaraderie. I should add that there are as many men as women, and of all ages. This is a safe and happy place and is thought of as a second home bymany of the clients.

If you think that you could benefit from coming to Holsworthy Link Centre you can contact them for more information by telephoning 01409 254729 on Tuesdays or Thursdays between 10.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m.

The Link Centre is in Well Park, which is a small cul-de-sac off Western Road. If you turn into Western Road off North Road by the Church, the turning into Well Park is 100 metres down the hill on the right hand side. In Well Park itself the Link Centre is just past the Fire Station and opposite the Police Station. There is a “Devon County Council Holsworthy Link Centre” sign on the front of the building. There are a few parking spaces directly outside, but if these are full you can park in the adjacent car park outside the Leisure Centre.
