Ligorano and Reese In Memory of Truth, 2003 Micro Video Projection

The artist team Ligorano and Reese combine old and new technology in their project “In Memory of Truth”, a film compiled from old movies and projected onto pinhead. To allow viewers to watch the film on such a small “screen,” they designed a micro projection system. Bend down to peer at the video through a magnifier.

Bio Nora Ligorano and Marshal Reese have collaborated together as Ligorano/Reese since the early 80’s. Starting in the early 1980s, Ligorano/Reese‘s work is an ongoing investigation into the impact of technology on culture and the associations and meanings that the media brings to images, languages, and speech in politics. Their body of work is multidisciplinary, includes limited edition mul- tiples, videos, sculptures and installations.

Ligorano/Reese have shown at the San Fran- cisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco; The New York Public Library, New York; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. They have been awarded grants from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1986 and 1989, and have received artist residen- cies at Stichting Steim in Holland in 2000 and the Eyebeam Center for Art & Technology in New York. Ligorano/Reese have been affiliat- ed with Catharine Clark Gallery since 2010.
