Tasks for July


Lawns - Aerate the surface, this will also allow any rain to penetrate. In any dry spells do not waste water on the lawn, it will soon recover once the rains come.


Roses - Dead head regularly. After first blooming give a


good feed with a rose fertiliser or fish, blood and bone, hoe in.


Dahlias - Stake and tie. Feed with a liquid fertil- iser once a month. Remove any faded or dead flowers.


Pools & ponds - Treat against aphids and other pests. Replace evaporated water with fresh wa- ter through a spray.


House plants - Water and feed at summer rate. On hot days pro- vide extra humidity by standing near water in containers. Any plants near open windows should have their foliage cleaned regu-


larly .
