David Wilson the Head of the Faringdon Community College, said a few words of praise for the success of Interact and for their positive contribution to the Community and beyond, and how this has enhanced the PR for the college.

Bjorn Watson, Faringdon Rotary Club’s incoming President echoed the view that the Interacter’s should be as proud of what they have achieved, as we all were. He praised their plans for the year and said he looks forward to helping where he can.

A wonderful spread had been laid on, so we all tucked in and had a chance to chat with everyone, a fitting end to a very well run handover. I wish the Faringdon Interact Club every success in achieving their ambitious goals, while having fun.

Held in the Oxford Hotel on June 27th, a well attended event, with over 140 Rotarians and friends who enjoyed the hospitality of the Hotel and a very enjoyable meal.

This was complemented by the formal part of the evening, when District Governor, John Greening, presented several awards, including one to The Rotary Club of Faringdon & District for setting up the Young Carers group in Faringdon, Peter Walker, collected the award.

Following these presentations the main event occurred

where John handed over (the Chain) to our own Tim Cowling and Tim became District Governor 2014-2015

After the meal, the formal part of the evening was interspersed with entertainment from the Cotswold singers, who with their choir master, entertained us with some arrangements of many contemporary songs that we all knew, from songs from musicals to pop songs of the 60’s and 80’s, the response by the audience demonstrated their enjoyment of the singers performances

To top off the evening, not only had the hotel gifted 5% of all bar sales to the eradication of Polio project, they also donated a bed Breakfast and evening meal for 1 night , this was raffled, raising over £500 for John & Tim’s charities to share. All who attended had a really enjoyable evening and Faringdon & District Rotarians, were very proud to see Tim take on the governorship.
