Fun and Run are two words that don't necessarily go together for many of us but on Sunday 22nd June approximately 70 people turned up to enter our Fun Run 2014. The day dawned bright with blue skies and some very warm sunshine. Spectators and marshals enjoyed the most favourable conditions we have had for some years at this event whilst the runners most likely would have preferred cooler conditions.

The 5K race was first with participants aged from 4 to 70 something taking part. Whole families turned out as well as three of our own club members. Well done to Gill Peaston, our new President Bjorn, and President at the time, Mike Barrett for completing the course. Mike bravely sported an England wig and a questionable t-shirt and was ably assisted by his walking poles and a knee support having taken a tumble in training when Nigel Lee was heard to say "run Forest, run" - and he did, rather too quickly! Mike didn't want to hold up the remainder of the running field and so set off fifteen minutes earlier than the remaining runners to get a head start - even taking Angela by surprise, who turned up to wave him off at the start - fifteen minutes too late!

First place in the 5K went to Jed Cotton aged 15 from Witney with Alex Warburton aged 16 and his brother Matthew Warburton aged 14 (from Faringdon) coming second and third respectively.

Almost immediately the last runner made it to the finishing line the 10K runners were on their way. The pace was much quicker and we had an excellent turn out from the Far Runners and from running clubs further afield. First home was Paul Smith from Faringdon closely followed by Alex Meredith and in third place the first lady home, Angela Bugden. All three came from Faringdon.
