Providing Engineered Solutions for Sand and Particulate Matter Removal


STI’s exclusive focus is on providing engineered solutions for the removal of sand or particulate matter from produced well fluids. With hallmarks of simplicity and reliability, industry acceptance of its multi-phase Desanding equipment has fuelled rapid expansion of the Company’s fleet of patented equipment with pressure rat- ings ranging from 1,440 psi to 6,000 psi. Effective at removing sand, without any significant pressure drop in the process, STI Desanders offer benefits that alternative methods cannot deliver. By temporarily separating the multi-phase flow into a stratified, laminar flow regime, gravity is able to effectively separate the sand from the fluid flow of gas, condensate (or oil) and water. By leav- ing the separated sand in the Desander, the clean fluid discharge stream can safely pass through the chokes, valves and process equipment with lower risks of erosion or equipment damage.


Installed at the wellsite, STI Desanders remove fracturing proppants and produced sands from the produced fluids to prevent erosional damage to downstream assets, ultimately pre- venting uncontrolled or accidental releases of hydrocarbons. STI engineers each installation to ensure that the unit selection provides optimum Desanding performance.


With these particulates removed from the multi-phase fluid stream, the recombined fluids are ready to feed into the gathering infrastructure. This means that the gas phase component of the fluids does not need to be flared in order to remove sand, yielding higher revenues for the operator as well as avoiding regulatory compliance issues. Wells can be put on production sooner, immediately following testing, with- out concerns about equipment damage, disturbance to the environment or nearby land-owners, especially at sites where production contains hydrogen sulphide (H2


S) gas.


Every unit is built to strict quality and engineering specifications, in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 code as well as National Board certified. Materials are fully NACE MR0175 compliant, for use with sour-service production.
