December 14th – District Carol Service, St. Mary’s Witney. Witney Rotary Club has offered to help with much of the organisation of this event, but I am sure we will also be looking for some help from Faringdon. Again, I plan to make it an enjoyable and light event celebrating a happy time of year.

As those of you who were at the club when I gave my talk in February will know, I have decided to raise money this year for Seesaw, a charity that supports bereaved children, something very close to my heart. To raise the money, I plan to take part in several 10k runs in the District during 2014/15. Although not technically in my year in office, it would seem appropriate to start with the Buscot Run on 22nd June, so I am now in full training and the sponsorship forms will out soon!

It is my intention to try to keep as close to Faringdon as possible during the next year, it will be difficult, but this is my Rotary home! With that in mind, see you all at the Duck Race!

DGE Tim Cowling --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This current Newsletter may be the first one you have read, and I wanted to tell you a little about it. Newsletters are produced, usually bi-monthly, for the benefit of members, their partners and family. They are also written by members. Most, if not all our fundraising and social functions are reported upon. Our President Mike Barrett usually will have a message for us, as will Tim Cowling, the incoming District 1090 Governor for 2014-2015, who we proudly ‘own’ as a member of our club.

Hopefully, you will decide to join this lively, happy and extremely successful Rotary Club, and if you do, I can almost guarantee that you will make new friends, enjoy great social events and find an overall fulfilment in life, having fun and enjoying the company of likeminded people, whilst genuinely helping those less fortunate than ourselves, locally, nationally and overseas.

Occasionally I may privately seek your help to write an article or a report, but it is appreciated that some find ‘putting pen to paper’ not their forte, and of course that is respected, but any help would be appreciated. The Newsletters are available in PDF and digitally, a format that turns the pages at the touch of a button! Unfortunately, this doesn’t work on a iPad or similar. Can also be printed of course. I look forward to the pleasure of your company and to new friendships.
