STEM


On the following pages are concrete examples of digital content from each STEM area that provide opportunities for investigation, creation, testing, and revision. Tese are only a few of the hundreds of STEM content choices available in StarrMatica’s library.


Te Science section includes examples for Earth and Space, Physical, Life, and Engineering & Technology. Content encourages students to engage in the scientific process and to investigate scientific con- cepts in depth.

A focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education is important during the elementary years when it is possible to build a solid foundation of key concepts and to foster a love of inquiry and exploration. STEM is not a collection of separate subjects and topics to be taught but an integrated approach to these studies. STEM teaching encourages students to solve authentic problems and to collaborate with others to design, build, test, and re-tool until a solution is achieved.


A library of digital content supports this integrated vision of STEM learning with its library design which allows educators to choose content that complements and supports in class hands-on investigations. In this way, educators can integrate technology into instruction in flexible ways to teach foundational STEM skills and to encourage problem solving and group collaboration.
