Q &

Q Is Australia more relevant to Chinese investors than USA?

A Australia is arguably the closest western country to China with its China-friendly foreign policies, trade policies and

political policies. This naturally makes Australia a favourable destination for Chinese offshore investments. The less complex tax scheme and lack of taxes such as property tax, inheritance tax, and global tax in Australia make investments in Australia even more appealing. Another important aspect that makes Australia the

preferred investment is its liveability factors. Australia has been voted the most liveable country on the planet years running. And Australians are the happiest people in the world. This attraction is probably the most irresistible as they all want to live in the best place for generations to come.

Q What do you see as the future for Chinese investors coming into Australia?

A They will be investing more capital in more sectors than ever before. In fact, Chinese already are the number one foreign

investors in Australia in terms of total capital invested. They will count for more than half of all the foreign direct investment in Australia in the next three to five years or sooner. We will see more Chinese taking controlling interests or large shares in Australian assets and businesses across sectors, from agriculture to high-tech, from education to tourism. And the Australia economy will also be more reliant on not only bilateral trade with China but also direct investments by Chinese.

Michael Guo Q And where will you be in three to five years?

A When that happens, I would like to be part of the success story and a trusted friend of all the Australians and Chinese investing in each other’s future.
