The S word

Woe betide the magazine editor who rashly announces that spring has sprung – that’s just tempting fate, in our book. Instead, we’re cautiously edging into spring the only way we know how – celebrating the new fashions in the shops, dining at lovely restaurants and making the odd mini-break dash to the coast. Please don’t hate us. As well as hunting out some of the prettiest

pastels in town for our regular shopping feature, we braved the March drizzle to join the market traders at the freshly revamped Sunday market – fi nd out what the new name and approach means on page 24. Spring is traditionally a time of new beginnings, and comes hard on the heels of Valentine’s Day, so maybe it’s not surprising that so many couples start thinking about getting married at this time of year. Frome is ideally geared up to help you organise your day, whatever your style – more on page 13. We take a look at a new exhibition at Black Swan, look forward to this year’s Deverills Festival and dine at one of the best ‘pubs with rooms’ we’ve ever visited; we think we may have succumbed to Mells envy. . .
