• Refer to a dietitian with experience in the management of CF for dosing advice • Fibrosing colonopathy has been reported in patients with CF taking more than 10000 units of lipase/kg/day • Hyperuricosuria and hyperuricaemia reported rarely with high doses • Enzyme efficiency may be increased by the use of a gastric acid-suppressing drug, such as a PPI or H2
• Crushing/chewing enteric coated preparations, or mixing with food or fluid with pH >5.5, can damage the enteric coating • Care should be taken to ensure that no product is retained in the mouth, which may cause irritation
• Irritation of the anus may be treated with the use of a barrier cream
