INSTITUTE OF MATERIALS FINISHING

Success across the Education Spectrum

The Institute of Materials

Finishing have

always encouraged education at all levels across the Material

Finishing Industries.

This has been reflected recently by the work done to enable and recognise the Institute’s education program’s with the Engineering Council so that members who achieve the Technician grade qualification can now apply for the EngTech accreditation, reflecting a wider recognition of their status within their chosen field.

Working closely with Sustaining Member company South West Metal Finishing, Barry Gay, the Secretary General, was pleased to be able to present the certificate for the first two engineers who have successfully followed this route to qualification.

Whilst actively working to promote this high level qualification the Institute continues to offer and support training at all levels across the industry. This is ably illustrated by the recent success of many students from member and non- member companies at Foundation grade.

Barry Gay also had the pleasure to recently present certificates to three students from Indestructible Paint Limited who have passed the Foundation course. It is pleasing to note that the company recognises the need for continued pro- fessional development and continues to support their education as they move on to take the Technicians course.
