Successful independent distributors aren’t successful by luck – they earn their customers’ trust. Look to experienced distributors and vet their quality practices first hand, suggests America II


Over the past few quarters, customer demand within the independent channel has been on a steady rise. All signs are pointing to a healthy year of growth and the results of a recent survey seem to support this.


Penton's Design Engineering and


Sourcing Group recently surveyed design engineers in the US, addressing concerns about counterfeit electronic components in the supply chain. When asked “Do you source electronic components on the open market,” 51 per cent of the respondents answered yes.


Essential independents


This tells us that customers cannot, and do not, rely on authorised distribution alone. In order to keep their production lines running, customers partner with independent distributors. In addition, original equipment manufacturers (OEM), original component manufacturers (OCM) and electronics manufacturing services (EMS) companies need a distribution partner who can help them reclaim revenue on excess inventory.
