 Mike Jimenez (J & L Transportation) was chairman of ATA from 2001-2003, currently

serves as the Alternate State VP to American

Trucking Associations and is a member of the Executive Committee.

ATA President & CEO Karen Rasmussen is saluted by Kevin Knight (Knight Transportation) and Sydney Knight. Kevin served on the Search Committee that recruited Rasmussen to head AMTA in 2001.

 The climax to the 75th Anniversary Gala was the drawing for a 1.03 carat diamond donated by Danny Cuzick of Freightliner of Arizona. Tickets sold for $50 each for a chance to win the diamond valued at over $7,000, with all proceeds going to the Arizona Transportation Education Foundation. The “You’ve

Won” sign, placed in one of the three jewelry armoires given to the three finalists, was placed by the sales manager of Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. No one from ATA, Freightliner or the Conference Committee knew which armoire had

been selected. When the emcee drew the names of the three finalists, they then opened the three armoires to discover the winner. Left to right is: Winner Karen

Schiefelbein (ATA); and finalists Becki Ewing (Hurley Transportation) and Jude Wolpert (Cummins Rocky Mountain LLC).

Jerry Moyes (Swift Transportation), who served as ATA’s president (chairman) during its 50th Anniversary in 1987, keynoted the gala and had attendees laughing outrageously at tales of trucking in the good old days.
