I now know we can do the distance. So this time it’s about making sure we can do it fast enough. I want to know that whatever happens we have left no stone unturned in the quest for an improvement in our performance.

good at travelling light, so we had two extra bags as well.


At Palma airport we waited nervously at the luggage belt and the two bike bags came round. This was preferable to solo bike trips where my machine would turn up at the oversize luggage desk.


Reassembling the bike at the villa, it


appeared to have arrived in perfect condition. I had been worried that soft shell cases might not protect the bike.


When we came to leave we spent a couple of hours repacking the bike, but this time as it disappeared on the luggage belt we knew that wouldn’t have to worry about it in transit.
