YELLOW JERSEY LOOP I CYCLE TOURS

Strickland Arms in Great Strickland. This is one business that is really taking Greg’s message to heart. So much so that it deserves a space of its own in the January edition when all cyclists feel the need for a roaring fi re and a warm welcome. Suffi ce it to say that the room was comfortable, the storage secure, the owners really friendly and the pies… the pies… if only I could eat all the pies. You really should think about having a visit. The Yellow Jersey Loop gives a great taste of the area. And Anton has not fi nished there – he’d like a version of the C2C to go past the pub’s front door.

Next morning a sportive ride did just that. Anton, Penny, the Bears and some of

the regulars were there to hand out drinks to the riders as they passed. The ride was in aid of a cyclist who had suffered life changing injuries in the Eden Sportive earlier in the year. Needless to say there was a very good turn-out.

For me, it was back to the station at Penrith. Passing Brough Castle and entering the town along back roads, there was plenty of time to think of all the good reasons to come back – and there are many of them.
