Mint Publishing presents... All New Occasions & Relations!

lot and that was when Alan said ‘you can start again’! “When we fi rst started, I couldn’t do all the knitting on my own so my mother-in- law Aileen and her best friend Avis – aka Nicky – helped and we called it the Market Harborough Knitting Circle. We did get lots of requests initially on how to join the knitting circle, but there wasn’t really one!

“Now I do all the knitting. Sometimes we have the caption and sometimes I come up with the characters. My favourite has to be the pea as it’s what we’re known for, but I do love the hedgehogs too. And I’ve had two books of knitting patterns published!” Alan added: “Sometimes design studio manager Anita Dragicevic has a caption she wants to do and we can recycle the characters – the horse was a reindeer in his fi rst incarnation, we took the horns off and put on a mane and tale and it became a horse. Sometimes Debbie comes up with a new character that we have to fi nd a caption for.” Debbie continued: “The model Mint works on is that we aren’t creative people so we bring in the best creative experience we can for the period that we need it. That’s why we work with Riou Baxter and Mike Broad of Why Management and picking the creatives is Jan Taylor, she fi nds the artists for us.” Debbie and Alan are now moving forward with their extended family, expanding the

3D card ranges for Mint, which they’re also exploring taking over to the gifting side with 3D images on coasters, bookmarks and journals. They’re also working on their new mug range to ensure the colours are right, so these will be available in the new year, and are getting ready to exhibit at Spring Fair. “We’re launching with new gifts for M&G in January and Mint in February,” Alan

said, “there’s no competition on the brands and they are both very good brands. “We’d just started going into gifts and stationery with Mint so the knowledge M&G have got on that side is great for us. All in all, with initial sales since being in business as M&G being very encouraging, it looks like a very good partnership.” T: 0116 230 4197 www.mint-publishing.co.uk www.museumsgalleries.co.uk
