these early cars both Coupes and Sports it was suggested that the very first cars of this type did not have adjustable backs or cushions but this was quickly changed to allow the back to be mounted in a number of positions but this then required the cushion to be moveable which as it located in the pan was not possible so the solution was to split the cushion in two with the lower part filling the pan but the upper part now able to be moved with the back, in fact the cushion is held with a short strap to the lower edge of the back. It all makes sense but is it correct? Answers on a postcard……

Martyn Wray our advertsiers Spotlight on

most recent advertisers namely Longstone Tyres, Lancaster Insurance, and Macs Factors, a business run by club member Andrew McAdam. All three businesses have been advertising with the SOC for about twelve with Longstone being the latest member earlier this year. Longstone Tyres supply a tremendous range of

tyres all at very competitive prices. They have amost helpful team and are an extremely nice company to do business with whilst also providing a timely service for their customers. There are several videos of the company on the internet showing their vast range of tyres and there is also a link on the club’s own website at www.singeroc.free-online.co.uk/ - after accessing the website, go to the Longstone Tyres advert at the bottom of the page and ‘click’ on the link to see their advert and information. For those without access to a computer, simply call Longstone

The club is very fortunate to have a strong group of advertisers covering a range of services and products, and I know that they are well supported by club members. A number offer discounts to Singer Owners’ Club members and, particularly at this time of year, special winter discounts are also available from some suppliers so don’t miss out on winter bargains. In this article I would like to highlight three of our

on 01302 711123 and you will find a most helpful and friendly service at the other end of the phone. Macs Factors is run by club member Andrew

McAdam from his premises in Norfolk and he has been supplying parts for our Singer and Rootes cars for many, many years. Whether you have a Singer Roadster, a Vogue or even a Humber or Sunbeam (see a fuller list in the magazine), Andrew can probably help you - if he does not stock the part, he can probably track it down for you. See his advert elsewhere in the current issue of the magazine and for helpful advice, you can contact Andrew on 01533 841252 and he will be pleased to discuss your requirements and assist in obtaining that elusive part. Lancaster Insurance has a range of insurance

options for your vehicle and they are happy to provide a quote over the phone or via their website. They provide insurance for both classic and modern vehicles with the option of multi-car policies and will even insure your classic tractor or Chieftain Tank if you happen to have one at the bottom of the garden. They will endeavour to beat any competitor’s quote, so give them a try and let us know how you get on. Visit

www.lancasterinsurance.co.uk/soc or give their friendly team a ring on 01480 484848. There is also a link to Lancaster via the SOC website at www.singeroc.free-online.co.uk/ if you happen to be viewing the latest club news - you we also see that the website has been visited by some 104,000 visitors since it was set up in 1999 by Martyn Wray, our club secretary. Give our advertisers a call in 2013 and you may be

their website at

surprised at the outcome, and the cost to you, just a little time. Please bear in mind, our advertisers rely on your business to make a profit whilst covering their costs which includes our advertising fees - if you feel their services are right for you then please give them a call. Also, please remember to mention the SOC when you phone our advertisers to obtain ‘special’ club discounts (e.g. Longstone Tyres & Morris Lubricants) and so they can log member support! Best wishes to you all for Christmas 2012 and happy motoring in 2013!
