By Ken Ludwig

December 5, 6, 7, 8, and 12, 13, 14 As a fun, delicious prelude

into the Shakespeare in the Vines’ 2014 season, this hilarious, quirky and thrilling alternative to standard holiday entertainment promises to be a fantastically fun night out. Di- rected by Daniel Baca and with an award-winning cast, The Game’s Afoot is the perfect gift for the holidays and sure to delight all…a night full of laughter at the theatre! It is December 1936 and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over

for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast-members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is murdered, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dan- gerous. Then it’s up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hi- larity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays. Winner: Best Play!! 2012 Mystery Writers of America Edgar Allen Poe Award.
