Thirteen walkers and four dogs set off from Wigley Orchard at 10 o’clock on Sunday 1st September for Brian’s fifth annual sponsored walk. We were blessed by fine weather and everyone completed the walk without incident. The course took them up through the

wood opposite the park entrance, across the ridge to the top of Stokes Hill, down through Hanley Childe to the end of Bannals Lane and across the fields to Stoke Bliss Church and then home. Brian was pleased to be joined by our

friends Brian and Janet Horton from Hemel Hempstead and Peter and Alyson Lloyd from Abberley, as well as caravan owners Mark Gordon and Patricia, Neil and Chris McGurk, Mary Lowe and Sue Watkin with their dogs, Martin Tuck and our domestic goddess Christina with her dog.

Martin Tuck, the winner of our first

walk from Wigley Orchard to St Michaels, again came home ahead of the rest, with Brian finishing not quite last. Well done to them all.

We were joined by more owners and

other friends after the walk for a bit of a do, and everyone enjoyed hot dogs and burg- ers and a refreshing drink in glorious sun- shine.

Sandra’s “back-of-the-buggy” £1 sale

attracted a lot of interest and raised anoth- er £40 for our cause. This year we were raising

money for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign, and we are pleased to say that the total raised was over £1,500. Many thanks to everyone who helped us to reach this magnficent total.

Winter’s coming

Yes, it’s that time of year again when cara- vans need to be prepared for the winter ahead. Look out for information by letter or email from Brian about draining your caravan down. He’ll be including details of our GasSafe safety inspections which will take place in the spring and also external cleaning once the leaves have all fallen.

Wedding Bells

Doug and Jill Benton’s granddaughter Amy was married to Kurt Noriega at St Mary’s Church, Kyre, on Saturday 24th August. Our photograph shows Doug and

Jill with Amy and Kurt by the lake at Cadmore Lodge where they held their reception. Amy and Kurt fulfilled the residen-

tial requirements to get married by spending the period when the banns were called at Wigley Orchard, and we also hosted several wedding guests. Doug said it was a wonderful occa-

sion. The sun came out just as the wed- ding party left the church, and every- one enjoyed a very happy day.
