editorial@robson.com | SUN LAKES SPLASH | October 2013 Computer Booters kick-off 2013

Al Hill (white shirt) presenting Past President Ben Thompson( dark shirt) a Computer Booters of Sun Lakes Lifetime Membership.

Peggy Cooke, Publicity Director The monthly meeting of Computer

Booters in September was one of the most interesting topics ever - what does happen to the electronics the police confi scate in a raid and how do they build a court case for the trial? Our guest speaker was Mari DeGrazia, a computer forensics examiner of the company BitWise in Tucson. She went through a case scenario and shared the tools and techniques used in procuring and analyzing data obtained as evidence. Past president Ben Thompson was awarded a Lifetime membership for all his hard work and service to the club. He will be missed and we truly hope he meant it when he said he would be dropping in at the meetings from time to time.

The guest speakers at the October 1,

meeting will be two gentlemen from the Verizon Wireless Fulton Ranch location, who will be presenting a detailed review of smartphones. They will demonstrate features, apps and technology of the Apple, Android, Blackberry and Windows operating systems. If you are thinking about upgrading your cell phone or asking Santa for a new one or are worried someone may give you a fancy cell phone or tablet for Christmas; you don’t want to miss this learning experience. As always, your questions will be welcomed. Starting in October, we are offering

a fi ve-week class in Windows 7 for our members. Please bring your Windows 7 laptop or tablet. We will be using the book Windows 7 for Seniors by Visual Steps, which was used last fall. Bring your book or purchase one at class for $15.
