judged the best out of scores of entries submitted from pupils from all the schools across the borough. Bournemouth mayor Phil Stanley- Watts decided to organise the contest after calls from the public.

Schools around the borough tasked their pupils with penning rhymes in a bid to win the honour. But it was Matthew’s “moving” words about winning a football match that clinched the prize. He said: “I haven’t written much poetry before, only at school. “But now I’m going to write more, about all sorts of things.”

He added: “When I was told I had won it felt amazing. I never expected to win.”

Arts Festival

West Howe community arts fest will take place on 3rd August 11.30pm – 4pm and we would like to invite you to take part in the procession or just come and join in the fun. Transport yourself forward in time to 'The future' let your imagination run wild and dress up. From Robots to time machines all are welcome. Meet at Fernheath at 11.30 and join the carnival procession to the Henry Brown Centre where you can then enjoy art activities from junk orchestra to performances, workshops and celebrations. Heathlands PSFA are holding its annual Summer Fair on Tuesday 23rd July, 3.30pm—5.30pm. The PSFA are a group of individuals working towards raising additional funds for the school by holding events throughout the school year.

Are you a parent, under 21 and feeling isolated?

There’s no need! Comes and join our group on Tuesdays at the Henry Brown Youth Centre 10 to 12.30 for parents up to 21 years old. Come along for ad- vice, support and to meet other young parents just like you! Bring a friends if you’re feeling shy. There are lots of activities for the children including making food, playing games and songtime and a bit of time just for you too.
