The salon has specialists in L’Oreal and Aveda products, and colour

shared with the whole team. The salon also works with haircare and colour products from Aveda, a leading ethical brand that always contains over 90 per cent natural ingredients derived from plants and non-petroleum sources, and operates sustainable practices such as developing recyclable packaging and using renewable energy, which fits perfectly with the salon’s eco- conscious ethos. Within minutes of meeting me,

Karen, aka ‘The Fixer’, has deftly identified my own skin condition and recommended some possible treatments to help. I’m impressed at her skill and the fact that her suggested solutions don’t necessarily involve spending lots of money in the salon – again, it’s evidence of the salon’s commitment to achieving great results while working within their client’s budgets. My therapist Kate Haxton agrees.

“We always give the best possible treatment and advice to our clients.

If I think a product would work well for them, even if we don’t sell it here, I’ll tell them about it. It also means we never give a ‘standard’ facial or just go by the book. We might have an hour with them to make a real difference to their skin, so we always adapt the treatment to suit their individual needs.” Accordingly, although I’m booked in for a Guinot Hydradermie Facial, Kate also incorporates Dermalogica and Jan Marini specialist products, as well as using the Guinot signature galvanic machine, for a facial that is relaxing, functional and unique to my skin. Beauty salons talk a lot about tailoring their service to the individual, but rarely do you find one that truly understands the importance of a bespoke approach, and a team of professionals so committed to achieving great results, whatever their client’s budget. As Karen Christensen herself says, “it doesn’t get better than this”. WL
