“The carriage of wings for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a good example of international cooperation in the aerospace industry and ensured the success of this unique operation. Our strategic plan is aimed at being part of similar long-term, comprehensive programmes that require special expertise and a non-standard air logistics solution.”

from suppliers around the world to its assembly plants, Boeing built the Dreamlifter aircraft, a wide-body freighter based on the B747-400 but with modifications that allow for the carriage of outsize cargo. Volga-Dnepr’s An124- 100 aircraft was selected as a back-up option to transport wings from Japan, as well as fuselage and empennage components from Italy to Seattle, taking responsibility for the design and production of the necessary handling equipment and the preparation and delivery of the components on a door- to-door basis. This shipment provided a perfect opportunity to demonstrate the logistics competency of our Engineering and Logistics Centre and reinforces our decision to extend our service offering to customers with complex air logistics challenges.”
