Day 1: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia After arrival at Addis Ababa airport, you will be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy an afternoon city tour including the church of St Mary, the visit of the National and Ethnological museum and many other highlights. Overnight: Jupiter hotel or similar

Day 2: Axum, Ethiopia We fly to Axum and visit steles (one of the UNESCO heritage sites), different archaeological sites, the bath and the palace of the Queen of Sheba, tomb of kings and churches like St. Mary of Zion. Overnight: Yeha Hotel or similar

Day 3: Axum to Adigrat, Ethiopia We drive to Adigrat and onto Ethiopia’s first temple – Yeha and the Debra Damo monastry church, where entry is not allowed for female visitors. Overnight: Adigrat Agoro Lodge or similar

Day 4: Adigrat to Mekele, Ethiopia We visit Tigray Churches such as Daniel Korkor, Debre Mariyam Korkor and Abreha We Atsbeha before driving to Mekele. Overnight: Axum Hotel or similar

Days 5 & 6: Mekele to Lalibela, Ethiopia On our way to Lalibela we admire the spectacular view of Lake Ashenge and are crossing sites such as Ambalage, Alamata, Dild, the Tekeze River, Tigray, Azebo / Raya and Afar the land of the Wollo People. The following day we will be visiting the first & second group of Lalibela rock-hewn churches built in the 12th Panoramic View Hotel or similar

Day 7: Lalibela to Gondar, Ethiopia In the morning we visit Naktule’ab church and then drive to Gondar which is the city of castles and churches, defined as the African Camelot. The Historical site of Debre Tabor was Ethiopia’s capital during Emperor Tewodros IV (19th

century) and is one of the most fertile lands in Ethiopia. Overnight: Gondar Taye Belaye Hotel or similar 18

Day 8: Gondar to Bahir Dar, Ethiopia In the morning we visit Gondar which was Ethiopia’s 3rd 17th

and 18th capital in the century, located at the foot of the Semien Mountains.

The city’s unique imperial compound contains a number of castles built 1632 to 1885 by the various emperors who reigned during this period. These dramatic castles, unlike any other in Africa, display richness in architecture that reveals the Axumite traditions as well as the influence of Arabia. In the afternoon we drive to Bahir Dar. Day 9: Bahir Dar, Ethiopia

Bahir Dar is a decidedly attractive town with palm-lined avenues and pretty lakeside vista. Nearby Lake Tana, 1,800 meters above sea level, is one of the long hidden sources of the Nile. Drive to admire the Blue Nile falls. The afternoon is spent on a boat trip on Lake Tana. Overnight: Abay Minch Lodge or similar

Day 10: Bahir Dar to Addis, Tour ends, Ethiopia Early in the morning we drive to Addis, on the way visit Amhara people and Blue Nile Gorge by crossing the bridge and continue to Addis through the rolling plains of the Shewan plateau. On our way visit the ancient monastic centre of Debre Libanos. Our farewell dinner will be at a traditional restaurant in town before we take you to the airport for your departure flight.
