HNC/D in Applied Chemistry/Biology This exciting course represents a more fl exible means of studying for a degree in biomedical / biochemical science. A key progression path for students on the HNC and HND is into the second or third year of a degree programme at university, depending on choice of options and fi nal classifi cation. The Higher Nationals in Applied Chemistry and Applied Biology also provide a progression route to the professional qualifi cations offered by the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Society of Biology respectively. As part of your course you will study units in organic, inorganic and physical chemistry, medicinal chemistry and cell metabolism. There will also be units in biological systems, pharmacological principles of drug interactions, immunology and physiology. There are other units available and choice is based on experience and background knowledge of the student. Entry requirements: You must be aged 18 or over and have a Level 3 qualifi cation or 2 AS Levels in science. Alternatively, you could have an Access to Higher Education Cerifi cate in Science or relevant work experience within the science / health industry. Possible next steps: Final year of your degree or employment.


Length of course: 36 for the HNC and 72 for the HND Hours per week: 12
