Plumbing Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies
(TBS41390) This is City & Guilds qualifi cation 6035-02 which is intended for people who want to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the plumbing industry. At Level 2 this covers a basic understanding of many areas within plumbing and domestic heating, such as hot and cold water supplies, sanitation and understanding health and safety within Building Services Engineering. You will also be required to study Level 2 Functional Skills in Mathematics, English and ICT. Entry requirements: Internal assessment and interview and Level 2 equivalent (GCSE A* to C grade) in maths, English and a science subject. Possible next steps: Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing Studies, Apprenticeship or other employment in trade and possible progression to the City & Guilds 6189 NVQ Diplomas in Plumbing and Domestic Heating. Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: Up to 16
Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing Studies Level 1 Certifi cate in Introduction to
Plumbing Skills (TBS14270) This is a City & Guilds qualifi cation 2000-14, where you’ll learn the basics of plumbing operations. This is a one year course which covers: health and safety, jointing and fi xing copper pipe, power systems and how to use tools and materials of the trade. Most of the course is practical- based, but there are a number of written assignments and a log-book to be completed. As well as the main plumbing subject, you will also be required to take Functional Skills in Mathematics and English at Level 1 – these subjects MUST be passed for you to progress to a Level 2 course. Entry requirements: College interview and initial assessment. Possible next steps: This qualifi cation does not lead directly to a job, but prepares you to start other qualifi cations. After taking another qualifi cation, you could choose to work as a plumber. Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: Up to 16
(TBS44950) This is City & Guilds qualifi cation 6035-03 which equips students with advanced plumbing knowledge and skills. The qualifi cation covers many areas within plumbing and domestic heating, such as hot and cold water supplies, sanitation and understanding health and safety within Building Services Engineering. Entry requirements: Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies, or equivalent. You will be required to attend a College interview and assessment and be literate and numerate at level 2. Possible next steps: Apprenticeship or other employment in trade and possible progression to the City & Guilds 6189 NVQ Diplomas in Plumbing and Domestic Heating. You will also be able to progress into gas qualifi cations at this level. Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: Up to 16
