Health and Social Care (continued) Level 2 Certifi cate in Preparing to Work
in Health and Social Care (CAR44924) This course is aimed at people who want to work in the rewarding Health and Social Care sector and who are seeking a vocational grounding. We also help you if you need to improve your language skills. The course focuses on your professional knowledge and the skills you need to help you fi nd work. You will study the following mandatory units: Principles of Communication, Personal Development, Diversity Equality and Inclusion, Safeguarding and Protection, Duty of Care, The Role of the Care Worker, Person Centred Approaches, Health and Safety and How to Handle Information in Social Care Settings. You also study Functional Skills maths and English or ESOL and do a work experience placement . Entry requirements: Level 1 Health and Social Care (merit) or College assessment and an appropriate level of English. This course requires you to do a work placement where you will be regularly caring for, supervising, training, or being in sole charge of children or vulnerable adults, we will ask you to have an enhanced DBS Check. Possible next steps: This course should give you a head start in fi nding employment in the growing healthcare sector. The qualifi cation has been developed to meet the National Occupational Standards required in workplace settings. It relates closely to the Health and Social Care Level 2 Diploma (formerly NVQ) and the knowledge gained will be recognised by employers/apprenticeship frameworks. You could also progress onto a Level 3 Health and Social Care course. Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: 12 (with language support). Without language support, 1 day a week.
Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Health and Many courses are FREE for many people. Ask us for details.
Social Care (CAR11468) This course develops Level 2 Health and Social Care skills and gives a basis for progressing to employment, or more advanced work-related qualifi cations or further education. There are six modules: Communication and Rights, Individual Needs in Health and Social Care, Vocational Experience, Health and Social Care Services, Diet and Health and Human Lifespan Development. The course runs three days a week for one year. You will also study Functional Skills maths and English or ESOL and do a work experience placement for which you will need a DBS Check. Entry requirements: Level 1 Health and Social Care (merit) or College assessment and an appropriate level of English. This course requires you to do a work placement where you will be regularly caring for, supervising, training, or being in sole charge of children or vulnerable adults, we will ask you to have an enhanced DBS Check. Possible next steps: Level 3 qualifi cations such as the BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care or employment as a care worker or support worker with a variety of client groups. Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: 15 (over 3 days).
