CACHE Level 2 Certifi cate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce
(QCF) – Apprenticeship (EYE82360) This Apprenticeship is a one-year programme which allows you to be employed in an early years setting working with children and young people. While you are working, you will work towards a nationally recognised qualifi cation. You will attend college one day per week where you will undertake knowledge and understanding in child development, safeguarding and health and safety. You will undertake the employment responsibilities and rights (ERR), Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT. You will be assessed by a qualifi ed assessor. Entry requirements: You need to apply via the National Apprenticeship website (
www.apprenticeships.org.uk) or email
info@viewtraining.co.uk to attend college and work in a school as an Apprentice. We will then invite you into HCC to do an assessment to check you’re at the right level to successfully complete the Apprenticeship. Possible next steps: Higher level courses, or employment. CACHE Level 3 Diploma / Extended Diploma for the Children and Young
People’s Workforce (EYE10670) The qualifi cation enables you to work with children aged from birth to19 years. It is part of a two-year qualifi cation. For the fi rst part of the qualifi cation, you must achieve the Level 3 Diploma Children and Young People Workforce. Once achieved, you will be able to progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma. You will be required to undertake 10 mandatory units and 8 extended optional units totalling 85 credits. In addition to the extended units, the Extended Diploma includes three extended assessments which will be marked externally. As part of the course you will carry out practical work experience during your time on the course. Entry requirements: College interview and written assessment, plus 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and maths or equivalent, plus Level 2 qualifi cation or equivalent. Possible next steps: Foundation Degree. Length of course (weeks): 72 Hours per week: 16
Foundation Degree in Early Years
Childhood Studies (EYE40677) This course is designed for people working with young children in public, private, voluntary and independent childcare and education settings. It gives a higher-level qualifi cation and career development for people working as a child minder or in a group setting such as a nursery, kindergarten, pre-school, community crèche or children’s centre environment. You’ll learn about the importance of play, language and learning, symbolic representation, management in early years and more. The course also covers issues related to working with multi-lingual children. Entry requirements: A relevant Level 3 childcare qualifi cation or equivalent and have at least two years’ experience of working with children. Possible next steps: The fi nal year of your degree. Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: 16
