Computing City & Guilds Level 1 Certifi cate for IT
Users (INT11958) This one-year course is designed for ESOL students who have achieved a level of fl uency in English and are interested in a career using information technology. ESOL is combined with a computing qualifi cation. As part of your course you will study units in improving productivity using IT, word processing, spreadsheets, security for IT users and database software, and undertake a substantial amount of laboratory practical work which requires writing as part of your course assessment. By the end of the fi rst year you will be expected to have completed one core unit and four optional units. Entry requirements: ESOL entry level 2. Possible next steps: Progression to level 2 or further training.

City & Guilds Level 2 Certifi cate for IT
Users (INT11957) You will study this ITQ course (information technology qualifi cation) at level 2. This includes Microsoft Word, Excel and Access, and the theory and practical application of IT security. It will prepare you for work in an offi ce environment where the main IT application packages are used. As part of your course you will study units in improving productivity using IT, word processing, spreadsheets, and database software, and undertake a substantial amount of laboratory practical work which requires writing as part of your course assessment. By the end of the fi rst year you will be expected to have completed one core unit and four optional units. Entry requirements: ESOL entry level 3 and/or IT Level 1. Possible next steps: Employment. Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: 14.5
Level 2 BTEC Diploma in IT (INT10146) This is a one-year level 2 course that prepares you for further study or employment. Units cover graphics, computer systems, website design, database, CISCO IT essentials, level 2 hardware and software. Most students progress to a level 3 course in IT. As part of your course you will study units in communicating in the IT industry, working in the IT industry, computer systems database systems, website development, computer graphics, spreadsheets modelling, Cisco IT Essentials (Part 1) and undertake a substantial amount of laboratory practical work which requires writing as part of your course assessment. By the end of the fi rst year you will be expected to have completed three core units, four optional units and Cisco IT Essentials (Part 1). Entry requirements: 4 GCSEs at grade D or BTEC Level 1 qualifi cation. Possible next steps: Further Education or Employment. Length of course (weeks): 36 Hours per week: 15
